Niko blinked, opening his eyes slowly. That had been a good sleep, but his bed felt a little uncomfortable. He blinked again as his vision came back to reveal desks and chairs around him. A classroom, empty of people. "...Damn it. Why does no one ever tell me when class gets out?" He rolled out of the desk, grabbing his black backpack, pulling it over one shoulder, straightening the high collar of his jacket and moving out of the classroom, looking around the hallway. "...Empty. Great." He sighed, rubbing his head and looking down both ends of the hallway, realizing that, unfortunately, he wasn't even sure -which- class he'd slept through, and since it was only his third day or so, he had little clue where he was at the moment. Niko gave an annoyed sigh. "Ah, man..." |

It seemed begrudgingly disappointing but it had only been Cody’s first day at this school and already these classes were becoming somewhat tedious. What were these lessons supposed to teach these students? Maths, as if anybody required the knowledge of how to find the sum of the side of a triangle in the real world. History, what was done is done, only the future mattered. Science, too complicated and besides only those who were truly interested in such a subject would carry it onwards any further than the simple lesson Cody had already sat through, leave those who had a knack for science to perform science and let those who preferred action to take action. And now Cody was expected to sit through another assumingly equally boring lesson, this time it was English and the prospects of such a thing only served to test Cody’s patience. He already understood English perfectly, what point was there to look further into it? It was for these reasons that Cody had decided to skip this class, he walked across the corridors instead on his way towards the exit, if anybody asked him why he had missed the class he’d simply say something had come up. That something currently now being the want to head towards the field to set up a makeshift firing range and practise his shot, but he’d think of another more acceptable excuse in due time. It was at this moment that he came across another student, strange considering the fact that everybody else was currently in class. This student seemed as if he were in a slight state of frustration, the sight of him perked Cody’s interest as he wondered what he could possibly be so worked up over. “Is anything wrong?” He asked curiously, he stopped walking and rested his back up against one of the lockers as he spoke, “You look worried.” Edited by RandomHand, Oct 30 2009, 03:05 PM.

Niko raised an eyebrow, studying the student that'd appeared before him. He shrugged, looking over his shoulder. "Any idea what class that is? Because I'm not sure which one I just slept through." He frowned. -That- certainly put him in a bad light. Oh well, it wasn't worth lying over something so stupid. In fact, it wasn't worth -worrying- over something so stupid. "...Forget it. Not like I'd get to my next one anyway. So I just need to find the way... out of here..." He looked down both sides of the hallway. It -really- didn't help that this place was even bigger on the inside than it was on the outside. Niko rolled his eyes. "Great." |

Cody couldn’t help but chuckle when he heard the students reply, he seemed to be taking a leaf out of his own book so soon. The boy was perfectly correct, no problem worrying about something that’s already run it’s course, the only thing he could do now was relax and let things play out as they happened. While the student seemed to be looking all around the hallway for a possible exit Cody had already summed up which way he was heading towards, one of the first things he had done upon coming to this school was to study its basic layout, he didn’t know every single in and out of the building but he knew enough to know which direction the closest exit was. With a soft smile and a shake of his head Cody leant back up from the locker and turned towards the way he had been previously heading, waving a hand to the student to follow him as he started to walk. “Follow me then, I’m heading that way myself.” He replied, turning his head around to look behind him towards the student during his sentence, “If you’ve got time actually, I’m planning on getting some firing practice down, you’re free to join if you want.” After walking a few steps though he stopped and chuckled again, he’d forgotten his manners. Cody turned around and held out his hand, though against normal procedure of the common gesture of the handshake he held out his left. It was raised up towards his chest some also, obviously not supposed to be taken as a businesslike handshake but rather as a more social casual hand grasp, it the sort that he was accustomed to though he didn’t even think that other people may find his less common variation as strange, he’d merely become accustomed to greeting people as such. Had one also been looking carefully enough it would now be fairly visible that underneath his blazer something large and metallic was attached to his arm, as the cuff had pulled down slightly to reveal the holding mechanism of his firearm. “I’m Jason by the way.” He added, his softly spoken Louisiana accent filled with genuine kindness. |

Niko walked forwards, reaching up and clasping the hand easily, apparently used to the motion. "Niko." He blinked a bit, raising an eyebrow. "Firing practice? Well, I'm always up for that. Better then... Whatever class I had next." He smirked, moving to follow him. He hadn't really worried about mapping out the place. After all, wherever he was going, he'd probably get there eventually, anyway. But at least he didn't even have to worry about that now, he'd get a free guide out and something better to do in one. Not to mention this place didn't offer enough opportunities to draw weapons, so new ones were always welcome. |

Upon hearing this guy’s name Cody raised an eyebrow, he let go of his hand when the student let go of his and dropped his arms down to his sides, putting his hands on his hips and giving the student an amused look. “Cat?” He asked curiously, a soft tone of confusion in his voice. Suddenly though he laughed as he realised he had just spoken before thinking, “No that’s Neh-ko, learning Japanese has messed with my hearing, I’m thinking people are speaking it to me even when they aren’t.” Still laughing from finding his own misunderstanding quite amusing he turned to walk down the corridor, trusting that the student known as Niko was following him even though now he wasn’t looking behind him to make sure. The student’s name seemed somewhat strange to him, his accent was fairly obviously American, he was almost eighty percent on that, most likely a Southern state like him own which leant to how easily Cody could recognise it. The name Niko though didn’t fit though, it either wasn’t an American name at all or not a very common one to his knowledge, though his knowledge of the Southern states did only come from one small town in Louisiana. “That’s not an American name, and you are an American too, right?” He asked curiously whilst still walking, looking up over his shoulder behind him though not directly at the student, “What is up with that?” Edited by RandomHand, Oct 30 2009, 06:22 PM.

Niko raised an eyebrow, blinking. "Cat...?" He stared at him. "Oh... I don't even -know- any Japanese." He began following Cody, sticking his hands in the pockets of his jacket. "I'm American, yeah. From Texas, though my family isn't. Niko's actually more Russian than American... My mother's middle name is Nika, so I was pretty much named after her, just with the masculine form of the name. Niko J. Valakov. My girlfriend's always called me N.J., that or Nik is fine." He looked around a bit as they walked. "You don't sound like you lived too far away from me." |

He was from Texas? No kidding. Cody grinned when he heard this from him, this student had lived only the other state across from him, small world. The moment he said the word Texas Cody stopped in his tracks and turned around, looking at him with an interested look on his face and listening to every word. He was right, Niko wasn’t an American name, it was Russian. Cody hadn’t heard anything of Russia before though he knew the land mass existed from looking at maps and various pictures now and again, it seemed like a cold place, hardly to his liking. When the question as to where he lived came up Cody knew he had to think of something fast, luckily he had practised his lies previously and so came up with the answer as quick as somebody who was telling the truth would have done. Besides these weren’t exactly lies as such, he was merely altering the facts slightly. “You’re right, I’m from Mississippi.” He replied, naming the state he had lived in after leaving Louisiana, “Bay Springs to be exact, we must have only lived a few states apart.” With that he turned around once again and headed towards the exit, it was now in plain sight, a small back exit that lead toward the fields behind the school. Normally these exits had fire alarms attached to them however this one did not, as it was used commonly by people walking between the buildings and therefore didn’t require one. Luckily this meant the two could exit the school without being seen by any suspicious faculty, or accidentally set off a fire alarm while slipping out the back. “Tell you what, I’ll let you use my shooter N.J,” Cody added as he pushed open the door, holding it open with one arm for Niko to walk through and looking back at him as he spoke, “You haven’t felt nothing till you feel the kick of a forty five go off in your hand am I right?” His Southern accent was now truly starting to show, Cody was actually fairly glad to meet another American in this school, especially one who had lived in the general area as he did. His cautious soft spoken tone had given way slightly to a more rural one the more comfortable he felt around this fellow US Citizen. |

Niko watched him as he spoke, seeming to accept the information offered, after all he didn't know enough other people to know the difference between a Louisiana accent and one from Mississippi, if there even was one. He walked through the door, smirking at him. "I guess you're right. That what you carry around with you?" Niko gestured to Cody's arm. "I prefer speed to power myself, but I won't turn down the chance to fire it." He looked around once outside before glancing back at Cody. "I assume you had a place in mind where we won't be bothered for shooting. I haven't been many places here yet, so I wouldn't know." |

After Niko had walked through the door Cody walked through and let it swing shut after him, hearing it click shut as Niko continued talking to him. Speed over power? Well he supposed different people preferred different weapons and Cody’s style was more around forcing his opponent away with powerful hit after hit, or to kill as quickly as possible by using as much force as possible. To each their own. It seemed that this kid wanted Cody to lead the way so he gladly walked out in front, not even looking behind him as he raised his arms up into the air in emphasis of his next sarcastic words. “Oh there’s a whole shooting gallery here for all the underage kids to practice their killing.” He laughed jokingly, light heartedly mocking Niko’s unawareness over what to him was normal truant behaviour, though his words did have a double meaning to them, “Just keep following I’ll show you the way.” Cody chuckled some more and dropped his hands back down to his sides. It was definitely a good day to get some target practice in, not too hot and yet not too cold, only a fairly calm breeze. The gradual endings of Fall, one of his favourite seasons. |

Niko rolled his eyes, though he partially appreciated the sarcastic tone that'd been used. Finally someone who didn't take everything so seriously. "I -meant- I assume you have a place in mind where no one will find and bother us for shooting. Some people here can be pretty uptight about that kinda thing." His right hand twitched a bit and he rolled a silver metal ball from his sleeve into it, rolling the object around between his fingers to occupy them. "It's been three days since I got here, haven't been able to draw my pistol the whole time. Kind've annoying." |

By now the two had walked across the pathway next to the school till the point that it began to turn off around the side of the building and towards the gardens, instead of taking this path however Cody stepped off of it and onto the grass that lead to the fields behind the school. This act had probably answered Niko’s question for him, or at least Cody had assumed. Just to calm the students nerves though he decided to reply to his question. “Don’t worry about it,” He said with a grin, turning around to walk backwards so that he was now facing Niko whilst still heading towards their destination, “The way I see it, these fields here are large enough so that if we head towards the far end we’ll be plenty out of eyesight. And anyone who hears gunshots needn’t worry because I’m fairly sure I heard that weapons were permitted so long as they were off school grounds, and these meadows aren’t on school grounds.” With that Cody turned around again, now that they were a short distance away from the school he ducked down some and began to walk more cautiously. He motioned a hand behind him to signal for Niko to do the same. “By the way,” He added in a whisper, “Keep your voice down for a little bit okay?” [guess this could continue in the Meadow then] |
