Domino was in upheaval. The Business District was a prime target for anyone who felt they deserved recompense for the violence against their kin; the recent attack against the local school would not go unpunished. Electronics stores were broken in to and looted. Any business that had anything of value was a potential target, on someone's list. If they didn't, then their offices were set ablaze and laughed at like a novel, comic effigy.

All over the human / meta city, the story was the same. The humans had had their world for too long; the metas were taking the next step in controlling the fear that had lead the to loss of so many lives on the local school campus. There would be no preventing the Domino Riots.

Hearing a crash from the business next door, Raiya ran to the window. Seeing the people surging through the streets and the fires licking through buildings, she narrowed her eyes and headed for her closet. There'd been rumblings since the school had been destroyed, but she'd hoped that the metas of the city wouldn't go so far as to riot. It seemed her hopes weren't going to be answered.

Pulled a looked oak trunk out of the closet, she unlocked it and thew the lid open. Inside was a costume she hadn't worn in months, since she'd given up being the crime fighter Beast Mistress. Stripping, she began to yank on the leather armour. She was just thankful Rhama and the kids were out. If she was going to save the human in the area, she couldn't have them to protect as well.

Fitting on the mask that had protected her identity for so long, she headed downstairs, calling to her animal allies as she went. Hearing the front window of her tattoo shop, which took up the first floor of the building, smash, she snarled and called up her animal aspect power. Like hell they were going to reek her place. Taking on the black fur, long tail, claws, fangs, and bright eyes of a panther, she bounded down the last flight of stairs. Seeing the two who were foolish enough to break into a place known to be owned by a meta, she let out the coughing roar of a panther and launched her attack. Feline strength and agility added her her already impressive physical abilities made her nearly unstoppable at close combat. The two would-be thieves went down in a matter of seconds.

Dusting off her hands, she glanced over her shoulder and smiled as her allies arrived. Four half-wolves, their dog mother and a real panther were a formidable force.

Heading outside, she took stock of the situation. Seeing a number of humans being attacked, she used her power to send a command to all the animals within her mile range. They were to defend anyone being attacked, without putting themselves in too much danger. Satisfied, she then set about dealing with the rioters on her street.

Aleksei had walked into a bar with hopes of taking his daily dose of alcohol. But now, all of Domino Town had gone into a frenzy. It wasn't something he was interested in taking part of. He had come here to re-learn to use his abilities and retire, not to wage another war. The tension in the bar was high, too high for his taste. The same way he came in, he showed himself out. This was not his fight.

Outside was worse, which was pretty ironic considered he had just stepped out of a bar. The fight outside had already begun. Businesses were on fire, there were people looting, and there was no shame in sight. No one wore a mask, no one tried to hide their identity. It was as if they were proud of what they were doing.

As he passed by a TV display at a RadioShack, and he could see the news. He didn't have to listen to it, the channel read "Riots" in the heading under the reporter. Not to mention everywhere else on the screen. The news was just making things worse. It was showing other idiots that it was an a good time to take advantage of the towns situation. They police force was spread thin, this would surely end in a massacre. The question: Who would be on the receiving end? Human, Meta-Humans, or both?

The hell with this. Aleksei kept walking, he wanted to get home before he was caught in the middle of it all.

(There was an area in the rioting around here that was having a different sort of problem. It seemed that things were going on at one of the biiig intersections that seemed...weird and wrong in the worst way. You have all of these people alreaddy causing damage, looting, etc. of course, but then there were those for whom this was an opportunity to have FUN. People were tripping, slamming into objects, knocking into each other, attacking one another for some odd reason, and any number of things that could be imagined. Some were set on fire and screamed bloody murder for a moment before realizing that they weren't actually smoldering, and that the appearance of them doing so had vanished almost instantly. And amidst all of the chaos, there was the one who was watching it all. Well, there was more than one. The slightly-more-obvious one was on a rooftop, looking down. He was a black four-limbed thing with a tail, long horns, leathery scales, wings, glowing yellow eyes, and buck teeth with railspike fangs. In short, he was a Jabberwock, and he was enjoying it because he ate raw chaos, so long as he was relatively nearby it all.)

Ritz: Aw, that's brilliant! I should feel ba, really I should, but I can't 'cause it's so damn GOOD!

(He was gorging, but inconsequential. No, the odd part was the laughter. It was hard to fix a direction on, especially with all of this noise and because the voice could be projected into different places. But yes, someone was - here and there - laughing herself silly. You couldn't always see her, because what was going on here was the heavy application of non-mental illusions, like magic holograms. Some of them were used to hide the fact that she was around at all, but perhaps sometime out of the corner of your eyes...aha! A cute girl with black hair and a blue dress, laughing at the misfortune of others, people who suddenly didn't see the telephone poll or got hit by a car or simply can't get their bearings because she's causing false images to appear and disappear with nar'ly a flick of her finger, if even that. Her name: Manako Arashi. Her quest: To make the hurting more fun. So far, so good it seems. Most people weren't even aware she was laughing at them at all. She was making mischief, sharing the lovely feeling of pain.)

Equipment

The worn edges of the man's brown trench coat dragged close to the ground. A fedora covered his face from the crowds, and a skull mask covered his face just over his nose and mouth, hiding his identity. A brown glove covering his right hand just above his wrist and just under the sleeve of his coat completely hiding his arm from view. A metal backpack hung on his back.

The waning sun reflected on him, as he walked smoothly through the crowds of Rioters. Offices burned, stores were looted. It was chaos. And yet, even with all the anti-human sentiment. There were still humans who had yet to be this was a problem readily solvable. As if by the wind, the young man wondered out of the crowd and into a building known to be a popular shop for Humans. Knowing this, it would be evident that a majority of the people hiding would be humans. Also seeing as how the metas of the city were currently in the course of Rioting, it would be unlikely that many of the people within would be Meta-Humans.

The man looked around the room, as the people coward in the corners.

"Look now, at the face of you're redemption. This is what HUMANITY has portrayed us to be *points outside*. A sick race... to be exterminated! There's a war coming!"

The man briefly paused to look down at all the faces now staring up at his, unsure what was about to happen. He removed a small chrome ball from his pack.

"Blood will run like rivers. *he presses a button on the top of the ball, and it shines red.* Nachinayetsya, Spasibo za vashi zhertvy... Do Svidanya. (It begins, thank you for your sacrifices. Goodbye.)"

His words were sollemn, as if in consolidation to someone who had just lost they're loved ones. As the last words left his mouth, so too did the small silver ball. It flashed once, twice, and once more before breaking apart into three silver spinning blades that erupted outwards and began attacking the terrified people. Within the span of only a minutes atleast a dozen were already brutally wounded if not fatally, blood splattered with every pass of the blades. A whirling frenzy, and Vadim simply stood in the room watching the horrid masses. Would a lone hero step up to stop this menace, would the terrified masses get the message. If there's war, than there must be sides. The Metas, versus the Human Menace! Metas had to fight back against.

As Raiya moved through the streets disabling anyone she found attacking innocent humans, she kept an eye out for anyone she knew. She'd gotten to friendly with a number of people in the area and didn't want any of them caught up in the mess. She came across some, and told them to go to her shop where they'd be protected. There was no guarantee tat they'd be safe inside their buildings. Only somewhere like her shop, guarded by some of her animal allies, could offer sanctuary.

Knocking out yet another rioter and tying him to a streetlamp, she paused to look around. She couldn't understand why this was happening. This would only make the meta haters' case against them stronger. You couldn't fight hate with more hate. Targeting humans would just bring the law's boot down hard on all metas.

Continuing down the street, she then jerked to a halt, her head up and her body stiff. The scent of blood filled her nostrils, so strong that it indicated multiple victims. Racing toward the source, she readied herself for the worse. Coming to the back of a shop popular with humans, she took the shortest route and burst through a window. Landing easily, she straightened, then stared around in horror at the massacre. Bodies lay everywhere, mutilated. Catching sight of the spinning blades, she formed balls of energy threads and threw them at the blades. The threads wrapped around the blades, covering the deadly edges and catching onto any surface the blades touched, halting them.

She turned to one of the survivors, and offered a reassuring smile. "I need everyone who can still move to tend to the wounded. Then I want everyone to go to the Wandering Dog tattoo shop. You'll be safe there." The man nodded and crawled to the nearest of the wounded.

Stepping into the center of the room, Raiya faced the man who had set the blades on the defenseless people within the shop. Her eyes glowed gold like those of a predator, and would cause the instinctive fear all people felt of night predators. When she spoke, her voice was low but carried the growl of a big cat. "You monster. You have just proven everything those hate spewers say about metas." Her clenched fists and her lashing tail were the only outside indicators of the awful rage boiling within her. "I've been going fairly easily on those brainless idiots out there. But you, you I am going to put down like the dog you are. You, and all those who have sullied the name of metas by doing such evil acts have forfeited their right to live."

Across the street, Aleksei could see a crowd forming. He couldn't make out exactly what was going on, but it was clear it wasn't good. An uproar of shouts and cries for help echoed as the stampede of people tried finding their way out. They didn't even bother to try and open the door, they simple broke through the glass windows. Pushing and shoving to save their own lives, trampling mothers and their children, it was utter chaos. What were they running from?

He crossed the street to get a better look, pushing away those trying to run right through him. As he cleared one wave, he got a glimpse of a bladed sphere. Was this some sort of damage control by the city? Aleksei was new here, and worked part time for Domino's Waste Management Department. That was a nice way of saying he was a garbageman. The measures seemed extreme to him though, especially of a city that issued the evacuation. It couldn't be the city, they had sent out officers to get a hold of the situation. This had to be a the work of something else.

It was a terrain of bodies, covered in lakes and rivers of blood. Some of the victims were still trying to get away, crawling and dragging themselves and others despite their injuries. The weapon made it's way to him, but it was intercepted by something.

"You monster. You have just proven everything those hate spewers say about metas." Aleksei didn't move, she was directing herself to him. "I've been going fairly easily on those brainless idiots out there. But you, you I am going to put down like the dog you are. You, and all those who have sullied the name of metas by doing such evil acts have forfeited their right to live."

Aleksei would let the situation play itself out. He walked across and headed to a section of the shop that had hardware and tools for your household handyman. It was time to gear up.

Threads of energy spun themselves around Vadim's blades, catching them in mid-air. As of this point there's 46 injured, none dead yet.

"You monster. You have just proven everything those hate spewers say about metas." A voice came from behind Vadim, feral, ferocious, inticing...

"I've been going fairly easily on those brainless idiots out there. But you, you I am going to put down like the dog you are. You, and all those who have sullied the name of metas by doing such evil acts have forfeited their right to live."

"A monster? Hehe... Niet. No monster... I am redemption." Vadim's hand reached into the void between himself and the blades, The blades gave a twist and spin cutting the threads that bound them and began to spin in a whirling motion around Vadim as he turned to face the new challenge, "The war has already started, It began the MOMENT the real monsters destroyed the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent metas. So if you wish to save the lives of these... insects, than you are NO different than they are. However, if any Meta in this room joins me, than they're lives will be spared."

Vadim released a second blade ball, and the blades of that unit would also begin to swirl around Vadim. It would be Raiya's move first.

(Nobody is wondering where Manako is. They can't. She causes rampant chaos and laughs it off. She literally puts herself out of their minds if they get too curious, just telling them it's not important or to forget. After satisfying herself there, she was feeling pretty good, but thirsty. Yes, the plight of others wasn't really getting through to her much. The young girl decided to head off to a store to get something, like one that didn't look overly looted, and came to a place where a boy was killing humans with uhhh... Well, it looks like those flying balls from the Phantasm movies. Manako tilted her head at this, then shrugged as another girl walked in and called him out for it.)

Manako: 'Scuse me!

(She basically wandered in as the two started to face off, a pleasant smile on her face. She had noticed something following her, but as long as nothing bothered her, it didn't matter. One of 'em called the other a monster, and Manako got a soda. The other called himself redemption, and Manako took a drink. This was sort of an 'other people' thing for a moment, pretty sure she stepped on some people to get behind the counter like this. However, the boy caught her interest. Not sure if his being a boy was it or if it was about inflicting all of this lovely pain, but he had her attention now. You know what? It might've been about the pain. It was such a good struggle they were having on the floor.)

"The war has already started, It began the MOMENT the real monsters destroyed the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent metas. So if you wish to save the lives of these... insects, than you are NO different than they are. However, if any Meta in this room joins me, than they're lives will be spared."

(Sluuurp... Manako sucked soda through a straw in the bottle, then shrugged.)

Manako: Mkay, got it covered.

(She was seen to stay in place, actually, but this was an illusion. She was really masking her non-chalant movement over to the guy who was working on the wounded. And then, they would see his throat pierced from behind, as he choked on his own blood and collapsed. Then, Manako's voice rang out, direction hard to determine...)

"You guys on the floor should scream now, 'cause you're scared and there's so much pain..."

(And lo, they did! Wailing and terror-stricken panic gripped them as their voices rose louder with fear and agony.)

Raiya noticed the young girl who walked in and all her enhanced senses went on alert. Had she not had the enhanced senses and the instincts of a big cat, she would have likely seen the girl as just that a little girl who had wandered into the wrong shop. But her instincts screamed at her that this girl was more dangerous than anything she was likely to face. Her tail twitched, but otherwise she showed no outward reaction to the girl's presence. But that isn't to say she did nothing about it. She still had her trump cards and she called one up.

"A monster? Hehe... Niet. No monster... I am redemption. The war has already started, It began the MOMENT the real monsters destroyed the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent metas. So if you wish to save the lives of these... insects, than you are NO different than they are. However, if any Meta in this room joins me, than they're lives will be spared."

Raiya marked the positions of the now free blades without seeming to move her eyes. She also noted the new blades. She then swept a hand out to indicate to the carnage around them. "This is no redemption. Had you truly wished for redemption for those deaths, you would have gone after the ones responsible, not innocent people who had nothing to do with it." She pressed her fist to her chest. "I was there when the school was destroyed. I saw it all. And what I see here now is just as evil. You aren't trying to get justice for the victims. You're just using them, defiling their memory to satisfy your sick need to see others in pain. Only a psychopath would use a method that cuts their victims to shreds." She brought her arm down and energy threads began gathering around it. "Metas like you are the reason the school was boomed in the first place. Did you ever think to seek redemption against those who used their powers for evil and so brought the fearful eye of human against us?" The energy threads coalesced together int a long whip.

Her first target, however, was not the boy in front of her. But before she could use it, the man she'd told to tend to the wounded collapsed, stabbed through the neck. "Eoin, now!" From the shadows 160 kg of large male melanistic jaguar, her panther, launched at the girl. With a bite force twice that of a lion's and claws like razors, it was a creature to be feared.

And as her panther launched his attack, Raiya half turned toward the girl, keeping both enemies in view. If the girl somehow managed to escape Eoin's attack, she would use her energy whip to restrain the girl. She would not allow anyone else to die.

"Hm... If you want to catch big fish... you use big bait. As you say, I only use these people, and there sacrifices are greatly appreciated." Vadim said, fully aware of the girl who had just entered the room, however a quick flash of his life sight told him that this girl wasn't what Raiya thought she was, as she would soon find out. Yet the girl who had just entered the room, wasn't what caught his attention, it was what had followed the girl. His cybernetic dog, Kujo. Which she would also see soon. The girl seemed to have joined his side, so now that he had a companion, his job of dispatching this nuisance would surely be easier.

When her panther leapt, Vadim's pet was already in position, and the dog would surprise the panther mid-flight, latching it's metallic jaws into it's neck. As the dog, lacked any scent except for that of metal and machinery, it would be unlikely that the Panther or Raiya's sense of smell would have caught it, and with the racket and screaming going on inside, the low hum of the dog's systems should go unnoticed. That combined with the Panther's 'Lock' being set on the girl, Kujo's surprise attack should be successful. Of course Vadim's goal wouldn't be to kill the pet, no the pet was only following orders, and the impact of the dog's attack would be sufficient enough to put the Panther out of the fight without killing it. That was Vadim's way, to ONLY use what was necessary to complete his goals.

And should the dog miss, which was unlikely, he would flair out his scales and spin midflight, causing severe lacerations to the large cat.

(OOC: NEW EQUIPMENT ADDED; Kujo.

DragonFae hun, might I ask you to color what Raiya says, it's difficult for my 'old' eyes to differentiate between what she's saying and doing when it's blocked together.)

(Well okay, that was a bit odd. Actually, she kind of expected it. Not with a jaguar, though. No, she just knew that the girl was going to fling something in retribution for killing someone. Buuut..that was where it all went wrong. You see, she didn't have any way of knowing what really happened. She sent a jaguar at Manako...and Manako wasn't even there. Her illusion left her looking innocent at the counter, and that's what the big cat would go for. Even then, it wasn't going to make it anyhow. You see, that thing that followed her in was uhhh...sort of intercepting it in all this noise, where people were making themselves rather hourse by now. At this point, the girl was in a totally good mood, taking up part of the wall near the victims with her naginata - which she'd had with her, you see, to do the stabbing - and keeping up the illusion that she was still behind the counter and not where she actually was. She could make the illusionary girl speak, as she could make any of her illusions do.)

Manako: That's a nice dog you have there. Don't forget to make it hurt more... And...time to go to work!

(She had on a smile that looked wrong. The illusion of Manako had one of those expressions of enjoying violent work way too much. Since her creations were visually indistinguishable from reality unless on purpose, she made it hop onto the counter, pulled out her naginata, and start swinging and stabbing it at Raiya. It would have every look of being the real deal, but would pass right through her without harm. The question is...how sure of herself would Raiya be? Did she even suspect an illusion? She hadn't seen evidence of one yet. Until otherwise noted, this looks entirely genuine and dangerous.)

(OOC: Sure thing Tsu. Don't want you straining your eyes.)

"Hm... If you want to catch big fish... you use big bait. As you say, I only use these people, and there sacrifices are greatly appreciated."

Raiya tossed her head. "You're worse than the people who destroyed the school. But then, I guess being called as such wouldn't mean much to you. You probably jumped for joy when you heard about the bombing. A person like you loves nothing more than an excuse to go on a killing spree." She was feeling her enemy out, seeing if she could anger him. An angry fighter didn't think as clearly. And while she felt rage toward him, she'd turned it cold so that it sharpened her mind rather than hindered her.

Both Vadim and Manako would quickly discover that deceiving Raiya was something that wasn't easy to do. For one, while a feline's nose was sharp, a canine's was even sharper and Raiya had five of them at her disposal. Her partner Taipar had already informed her of every object in the room, including Vadim's little pet. So when it launched its own attack, it would find itself flying straight into a wall of solid crystal.

Landing on the counter near the illusion of the girl, the panther then jumped to stand beside his mistress. Raiya had never aimed for his attack to connect with the girl. She'd wanted the metal dog out of hiding.

Resting her free hand on her panther's head, she glanced over at the illusion. As it started swinging the weapon at her, she merely tilted her head. "Pretty impressive. This really looks real. Too bad for you it doesn't smell real." She then turned her head to gaze in the direction of the real Manako. "Use that weapon to slash anyone else and you'll regret it."

As Kujo flew through the air, it missed only by a fraction, while still in mid-flight it would twist it's head openning it's maw and releasing a spray of bullets where the panther would land. As the panther was already in the air, and as it couldn't fly, even with the agility of a cat it would be near impossible to miss a crippling attack. Also being that it was a spray of bullets, Vadim was pretty much gauranteed to land at least one, considering the size and mass of the huge cat he'd be looking at landing at least 3. All the bullets were aimed relatively low, as to hit the upper legs, while avoiding all vital organs. Just one hit would cripple whatever limb it impacted.

Certainly now the cat would be out of commission. Leaving Vadim to focus on the girl.

"You're worse than the people who destroyed the school. But then, I guess being called as such wouldn't mean much to you. You probably jumped for joy when you heard about the bombing. A person like you loves nothing more than an excuse to go on a killing spree."

"Do not presume to know anything about me or my motives. You're psychological ploys are useless... you're words have no effect on me. I however know exactly what effects you."

Vadim pulled out a handgun and shot it into the crowd. POP! One dead. POP! Two dead. "How is it... seeing these 'innocent' people dying in front of you... without being able to save them? Do you feel helpless?" Vadim's eyes were emotionless... trained on this woman, not once taking his eyes off of her.

By this time, Kujo would already be by Vadim's side. Ready to defend his master.

"Pretty impressive. This really looks real. Too bad for you it doesn't smell real. Use that weapon to slash anyone else and you'll regret it."

(Both Manako and her illusion broadened their smiles, looking rather interested now. The jig was up and she found it funny. But the jig wasn't UP up, if you catch my meaning. You'll see. Suddenly, there was another one of her right next to her, talking.)

Manako: You're very clever. Good use of the furry friends, buuut that's not going to help much now. You see...

"All of the animals should leave now, except for his dog."

(Whether or not this would work on Raiya was not the issue. Because she was a meta-human, she had more resistance than an average person to her golden voice. She might resist. Her animals themselves, however, were - unless otherwise mistaken - simply trained animals, no meta-factor. They had a greater chance of obeying the command. Then, the real Manako appeared nearby the normal humans. She did this because the guy in the room started taking shots at some of the victims and killing them, when she herself wanted to do something more clever... Manako was good at acting. She suddenly looked very distressed and faced the captive audience.)

"That girl is trying to kill us all with her animals! We have to stop her!"

(They were too far in to resist, too hurt and too scared. They had no defense. All at once, with every ounce of strength the wounded could possibly have, they went right past Manako to attack Raiya in a desperate fury. The real Manako picked up her real naginata, and smiled while retaining focus. She knew people, and she knew how people thought. Now that she had demonstrated her power, she knew that Raiya would try to end this by trying to get at her. Of course, her power wasn't real mind control in the sense of puppets on strings. She just made them believe her and they acted, and they'd go on until it just sort of wore off or they could no longer try...like if they died.)

Raiya wondered why the metal dog even bothered trying to shoot her panther, seeing as she'd already put up one wall. A twitch of her finger had another wall up between her panther and danger. As the first one wasn't needed anymore, it dissolved. The second wall also protected Raiya from the bullets, considering the fact that by aiming at Eoin, the dog was also aiming at her.

You're very clever. Good use of the furry friends, buuut that's not going to help much now. You see...

"All of the animals should leave now, except for his dog."

The panther gazed at the girl for a moment, then simply yawned and flicked his tail. The five canines didn't move either. Being around her for so long, many of them since the day hey were born, had made their bond with her so strong that she didn't need to touch them to exert complete empathic control over them, though she only did it when she had no other choice. This protected them from the girl, but it didn't protect other animals within hearing range, not that there would be many with everything that was going on.

Raiya sent the girl a faint smile. With her empathic power over them, her animals were perfectly able to resist the little monster.

But as soon as the girl spoke, Raiya had an idea of what was coming next. Her power protected the animals from the girl's influence, but not the humans. Unless they were werewolves or had an animal part to their psyche her animal empathy did nothing.

"Do not presume to know anything about me or my motives. You're psychological ploys are useless... you're words have no effect on me. I however know exactly what effects you." Raiya saw his intent moments before he pulled the trigger. She knew that she couldn't get the the people in time, so she stayed where she was. It seemed just as likely that if she made a move to save them, he'd just shoot more of them.

"How is it... seeing these 'innocent' people dying in front of you... without being able to save them? Do you feel helpless?"

Raiya sighed. "True, seeing someone shot in front of you and knowing there's nothing you can do does instill a feeling of helplessness. But I've seen far worse." She shook her head. "Psychological ploys aren't going to work on me either. I learned long ago that you can't save everyone. Besides, no matter what emotions I am feeling, I never let them interfere in a fight."

"That girl is trying to kill us all with her animals! We have to stop her!"

Raiya sighed. "Yeah, like I didn't see that one coming." Bending her knees, she leaped up onto a tall display case bolted to the wall. Eoin similarly took a high position. "This is getting tiresome. How about you two play rock paper scissors and I fight the winner first?" When a man climbing the display case came within reach, a single flick of her hand sent him flying across the room. "Not that fighting both of you at the same time doesn't sound like fun. But the tactics you're using are so been there done that. Why does nobody bother to learn to fight properly any more? It's always gadgets or getting someone else to get their hands dirty. Next time I'm calling Kienan. He still finds this sort of thing fun." She sighed again. She wasn't putting on an act. Even in deadly situations, she never seemed to completely serious. Now that she'd put her emotions aside, it was just business as usual.

A nail gun, some nails, cable wires, an extension cord, a car battery, a blow torch, a sledge hammer, two empty bins, a gas mask, goggles, several cans and containers with flammable liquids in them, as well as 2 cans of fire repellant. Those were the items he gathered. He quickly went to work, putting on the mask, and pouring all the liquids into the empty receptacles. The nail gun, plugged in and loaded. Blow torch, strapped to the side of his belt.

He stepped out and saw that he had missed quite a bit of action. He couldn't really tell what was going on, other than the victims were now attacking the one person that was defending them. It didn't make any sense to him, unless the kid was right and human beings were really the monsters he claimed they were. The scene before him caused some changes to his plan, but he would proceed regardless.

In a rush, he began pouring the liquids around them, creating a perimeter. Once he finished, he walked over and grabbed the nail gun. Pulling out the torch, he lit the liquids on fire. A ring of fire formed around the three fighting, trapping everyone including some humans, in it. The fire would need more than the sprinkler system to put it out.

The rumbling of the air pump echoed with the yells of those outside of the fire that ran in the opposite direction. However the ones inside the ring continued to make their way to Raiya. He emptied the nail gun, shooting in Vadim's direction. Aleksei had rigged the machine and to spit the nails out like bullets.

With the sledge hammer over his shoulder, the military vet walked through the fire. In a deep voice that, somewhat enhanced by the mask, he addressed him.

"YcTynaTb 6paT," having heard the kid, he knew he was from the motherland. "Or die!"

(OOC: I googled the translation... since I don't speak Russain. So I apologize now for the butchering of the language. Not to mention it doesn't really paste well, so i made the capitalized letters smaller using the codes so that it could appear like it. Basically, it says give up brother. Again... sorry)

A hail of nails came through, one pierced through Vadim's jacket, and as soon as Vadim was aware Kujo came in front of Vadim and blocked the rest of the nails.

The girl's trick seemed not to work on the animals, probably something to do with the bond between pet and master. Vadim's found that those with Technopathy have a hard time controlling Kujo for similar reasons. In any case, along with the failed attempt to level the playing field was also a new player to Vadim's game, a fellow from the Motherland.

"*Don't you see brother... these humans... even when a savior comes to their rescue... they're hard wire to destroy us. To them we are abominations to be killed and used at they're convenience. What happens to those of us they decide to keep around? Will they turn us into weapons against our own kind? Will they turn brothers, against brothers? You see, I'm only protecting my fellow man, by joining the war and destroying those who would do us harm. This woman though! She would protect those who would kill our children, she's no better than they are. And how do they repay her? By attacking her because she's a Meta... like us! Join me... help me protect the ones that I love, from THESE monsters. If not, than atleast stay out of my way.*" All of this would be spoken in Russian, so ONLY Aleksei would understand. Hopefully, the combination of both having common heritage, combined with the confusion of the scene would help convince Aleksei to join Vadim's cause.

As for the change in scenery, nothing much would change. Vadim's cybernetic eye took in every detail of the area and helped coordinate a plan of attack, and escape if need be. Depending on what this man's answer was, he may just have to use the flames and attacking humans as a smoke screen. As he was now out numbered, and even with all of his tech, it was unlikely he could take both of them out without assistance. THough to be fair, the flames also prevented Raiya's dogs from assisting her as well.

(Raiya's monologue pretty much had no effect. A normal person might get angry, but all the talk talk talk of her parents taught her that people just talk their heads off when they have nothing to say. Her expression didn't change even when her little plans failed. It just meant she had to get creative, do things that she couldn't just brush off 'cause she has great mental control. The Cool Guy still hadn't been able to inflict any damage, which is a real shame because she really wanted to see this girl's hurt face now. That was the only way to know she was having a good time. So, instead of making a sort of argument with Raiya, she just said...)

Manako: Hey, you know those little tiny insects that always go 'Tzzzzzz!' right next to your ear?

(And then, it happened. Well, two things happened. First, Raiya and would start to get tiny high-pitched buzzes by the ears - made by tiny illusionary insects - and then it started to increase in number. Manako smiled because she'd remembered a bit from a Stephen King movie where a guy drove people insane with essentially a great deal of insect images swarming them and assaulting the senses. Raiya and her animal friends were getting an exponential increase of insects swarming around them and making noise, as though caught in an ever-growing swarm that wouldn't leave them alone. Physical harm? None. Distraction? Oh yes. But then, a strange Russian dude came in and set a fire around the whole group. That gave Manako an idea! Letting the image of her remain where she'd been standing, she entirely masked the fact that she was picking up a broom from the floor...and then The Wicked Witch of the West appeared!)

"How about a little fire, Scarecrow?"

(The end of the witch's broom was on fire. It was the real broom, in Manako's hands. She'd had no fear of the flames as she'd secretly stuck it in them to light the thing on fire...and then stick the end against the flammable areas of wall and stuff under Raiya, cackling all the way. Raiya herself might not realize that this was REAL FIRE until it was too late, and Manako was already chillaxing against a wall while her decoy image started talking to Vadim.)

Manako: Hey, Cool Guy! Can you make those silver balls go outside and attack her from where she can't see 'em coming?

Hey, you know those little tiny insects that always go 'Tzzzzzz!' right next to your ear?

Raiya smiled faintly. "I've been to the Amazon. You've never experienced insects until you've been to a rainforest." When the sound of tiny insects began in her ears, she frowned, though it was hidden by her mask. This was why she found people with illusion power irritating. They always used distracting tactics rather than fight honestly. The panther shook his head and the dogs laid their ears back, but stayed calm because Raiya was calm. Raiya could ignore anything, even great physical pain, if she needed to.

When the boy that had been moving about in the back of the store finally came out, he did two things. The first, making a ring of fire was unwelcome, but the second, shooting a nail gun at Vadim was welcome. The fire set off the sprinkler system, which made Raiya grumble. Jaguars might like the water, but that didn't mean she had to. Fighting in wet leather was bothersome.

Hearing Vadim's claim that the human were attacking her out of spite, Raiya snarled at him. And yes, she spoke Russian, as well as seven other languages. "Shut the hell up. These people have no control over their actions and you know it." She turned to the new guy. "The loli over there is the rest they're attacking me. She can create illusions and mess with a person's mind. She's implanted the idea that I'm trying to kill them into their minds." There was a blur of movement from her hands and three of the humans crumpled, their bodies no longer following their commands.

"How about a little fire, Scarecrow?"

Raiya gazed down at the image of the Wicked Witch. "Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!" She glanced over at Manako. "Couldn't you have at least chosen someone whose weakness to water isn't well knows? Having all this water coming down and her not melt kind of spoils things." Reaching down, she disabled the last few humans and then jumped off the display case, executing a flip in mid-air that would have made any gymnast proud, landing beside her new ally. She hadn't jumped off because of the illusion, but simply because she didn't feel the need for the high ground anymore. As Eoin was atop a different set of shelves he didn't need to move.

(OOC: To Lord Massacre- I am unsure if I can see you're character or if it's just Raiya and Vadim. So I will rp this as if Aleksei can. If he isn't suppose to see her, I'll edit it. I didn't want you to think I was ignoring you or something. Probably should've sent you a PM... Oh well.)

They should've kept their speeches to themselves. Aleksei cared very little for the reasons behind their involvement in the chaos that was spreading in the town. He was a man of war, and couldn't pretend to be against the stance that either one took. Unfortunately, his alliance was with his employer. Yeah he was a trash man, but the city signs his checks. Therefore he worked for them, it was as simple as that.

He also needed to remain in the good graced of the city. Aleksei was looking for a man, one with the power to help him remember what happened to him.

"Listen up kid, the city didn't recruit you to help them evacuate. Last I checked, they're taking arms to prevent the very thing you're inciting." They also didn't hire him to fight for them, yet there he stood. "Look, I'll make you a deal..."

The sprinklers turned on, and he heard a screech that distracted him and cut him off mid sentence. "How about a little fire, Scarecrow?"

What the...?

"Listen up kid, the city didn't recruit you to help them evacuate. Last I checked, their taking arms to prevent the very thing you're inciting." They also didn't hire him to fight for them, yet there he stood. "Look, I'll make you a deal..."

Vadim looked at the young man as he spoke, completely ignoring Raiya's outburst, unaware of whatever it was she was saying. She was so far below him at this point he saw her as little less than an annoying knat. This guy, he sensed could become a problem if he decided to join with her. But as for now it seemed he wasn't of the mind to hurt anyone, he just wanted to preserve the peace.

"Let me take care of this girl... and we can talk about you're deal. These humans have lost my interest, I did what I came to do. Believe me, whatever this city pays you. You're worth more to me, I could use someone like you, brother." Vadim said sincerely, "Here *raising a Razor Bat ball*, you may find use for these, some day. Their, Razor Bats, nasty little cyka *bitches*. Consider it payment for staying out of my way *tosses unarmed Razor Bat ball at Aleksei*. Just push the button on top, and toss it. The rest'll take care of itself."

Just than, his ally sent a distraction in the form of a 'Wicked Witch' to cause more panic, which unfortunately failed. In the confusion, Vadim removed the third Razor Bat ball from his tech-pack, activated it and rolled it behind him out of view. With eyes on the Witch, no one would notice this. The razor bat ball would detonate behind the flames, out of view and the bats would circle low around the flames, masked by the fire.

Just as Manako was about to ask about his Razor Bats, but BEFORE she did, his bat's would dart in full speed. One bat aimed at the tendonds of the forelegs of the panther, the other just slightly delayed as to counter any evasive movement, and Kujo poised for further combat. The third would dart in behind Raiya's dog and harrass it, cutting at it's tendons.

If this move worked, than both animals would be out of commission, though not fatally wounded. Leaving only Raiya and Aleksei to handle. A fair fight to be certain. If not, than he'd continue harrassing the animals with the new razor bats to keep them out of the fight, and simultaneously take defensive position against any attack from the two.

The added effect of being distracted by the false bugs would make this surprise attack, extraordinarily effective.

(The fire under the shelf hadn't been an illusion, which wa sort of the point of the witch, because the sprinkler couldn't really get that spot due to the angles. In short, Raiya assumed the witch was the big deal, when it was the broom with the fire, which made the shelf collapse after she jumped off of it. Kind of funny, really. It was like watching a gerbil navigate a maze and thing it's oh-so-smart because it didn't trigger a shock when...it's still in a maze. You couldn't antagonize Manako. She was sort of looking at the world like they were all funny pages, even when it hurt, especially when it hurt. That was when she had sort of a plan, a funny plan. The Cool Guy was taking advantage of things with his razor bat weapons and he decided to...make it look like the Cool Guy was throwing around more of them than he actually did, sending more of those razor bats - or the images of them at the jaguar. The bats wouldn't smell like anything. They were artificial and, she assumed, not likely to smell the way people do or anything else. The real Manako now appeared nearby Vadim, crouched on the counter and holding her naginata in one hand.)

Manako: Hey, let me have some of those bats, Cool Guy. I'll do something wicked with 'em.

(Ohhh...bloody hell. She has ideas in her head. Oh, and with side-comment of "No peeking!", she manifested a pair of opaque sunglasses over Raiya's eyes. You might think that she's doing alot with her powers, but it's really not. Once the witch was no longer needed, she let it go and relaxed a bit. Really, she could hold big complex things with her mind for a good while, so raising and dropping illusions here and there was just sort of playing around. Nothing here was making her serious, not even if you outright started hurting her. And that there is the essence of anarchy: Having no control over the situation.)

Raiya kept an eye on Vadim waiting for him to make a move. So far, the girl hadn't made any direct move again Raiya. True, she'd use that illusion of the Wicked Witch to set the shelves Raiya had been on alight, but that was still an indirect attack. It was Vadim with his metal toys that Raiya expect to attack. When he started talking with the new guy, Raiya took the chance to consider the battle. She could protect Eoin if needs be, but the canines outside were too far for her to shield. And as an injury to them would be far more distracting than an injury to her own body, having them in such a dangerous situation wasn't preferred. With that in mind, she urged them to return home. One of the half-wolves was already guarding her place, but considering the fact that she'd been telling people to take shelter there having more than one guard would be a smart move. And it would get her friends out of harms way. She was confident she'd be able to take care of herself.

It turned out the decision to send Taipar and her offspring away was a lucky one. The first indication Raiya had that Vadim had sent some of his razor bats after her animals was when she heard a pair coming for her panther. Smashing one into the ground with the heel of her boot, she used a fast round-house kick to send the other flying back at Vadim. Taipar did receive a cut to her flank, which caused Raiya to hiss, but she and the others managed to get away.

Raiya took a step toward Vadim, then froze when a pair of opaque glasses where manifested in front of her eyes. Lifting a hand to her face for a moment, she identified that she couldn't remove them, and dropped her hand. Taking a deep breath she let it out slowly. As she did, she changed. The fur and tail disappeared and her eyes and ears returned to normal. In the space of just a few seconds all feline features vanished, leaving her as her normal self. Considering the fact that she'd just had her sight taken away, this might seem like a rather foolish choice. It might even seem like she could only maintain the transformation if her ability to see was intact. Changing back had been a very conscious decision. The fight was heating up and it was becoming obvious she couldn't win quickly. As useful as the enhancements the feline aspect was, she'd need to be her normal self for a longer fight. Also, while cat ears were a lot sharper than a human's, the risk that the feline instincts would take over was greater. And besides, she hadn't done ay training yet at fighting without sight using the animal aspect power. She knew how to fight without sight as her normal self, so that's how she'd handle this.

She turned her head to face Vadim. "Seems the little missy doesn't think the two of you can win without an advantage."

Aleksei caught the mechanical ball. In any other situation, he would have dodged or tried to deflect it. There was something about this kid though, he was being sincere. His work experience taught him to be cautious though, and she had no plans on pressing that button any time soon. However, Aleksei didn't come to stop Vadim's fight with Raiya, he came to stop the mass slaughtering of Domino citizens, or rather, ex-citizens.

"Since they're no longer of interest to you, I'm taking the few humans that are left with me."

The deal was already set by Vadim, and it was one Aleksei wouldn't turn on. It was an opportunity to safely evacuate the humans. He first needed make an opening in the ring of fire he created. The sprinklers kept the fire from growing strong, but it was still a problem. I shouldn't have done that, he thought in hindsight.

Crossing the fire, he headed back into the hardware store and searched the place for a fire extinguisher. As soon as he got a hold of one, he aimed it in the area closest to an exit. That was part one to cleaning up the mess. Those who weren't severely injured ran, walked, or limped their way out. The others were being stacked on wheel barrels. Other humans and metas starting coming in and helping. It caught Aleksei off guard. It didn't last long though, it only took two to change the positive momentum. He wasn't sure where it began, but now this was a full on riot. Metas and humans fighting each other, some even their own race.

Looking over to the main event, Aleksei saw a witch, a young woman and a young man, all gearing up against another meta. Why did he even bother? Of all people, he should've known it would come to this. In Russian, he uttered his last words to Vadim, "House of Mirrors". A warring cry flooded the shop, as humans and metas came to fight.

Aleksei turned and smashed someone rushing in to attack him with the sledge hammer. And then another, and another. He disappeared into the crowd, fighting his way through them, until he made his way out.

As the blade came from BEHIND the panther, Raiya would NOT be in position to stomp it into the ground. As she was not in position to do so the attack would succeed severing the tendons in the panther's legs. ALSO as the roaring fire and the buzzing of the bugs would MASK the sound of the blades. Along with the fact that the blades were hidden from sight by the flames, all surprise attacks would succeed.

The surprise attack would take the wolves from behind, severing their hind tendons as well. With no other pets, and the blade attack successful they would surround in a large circumference around the girl, as she approached Vadim and halted, he presumed it was something to do with his ally.

With Raiya's sight blocked, Vadim took a step back and sent all but 4 of his razor blades to attack Raiya with virulent frenzy. From all angles simultaneously, in such a way that should they be evaded they wouldn't cross paths, and would be able to counter any sort of counter movement from Raiya. As this was happening, Kujo would also attack, lunging at her legs in an attempt to cripple her. All this would occur BEFORE her change.

As for Aleksei, Vadim heard the message. Before he left, and before Kujo attacked he would have Kujo shoot an explosive grenade at the base of the flame while everyone including Aleksei was at a safe distance. This would create a path through the flames for both Aleksei and his 'Followers', whoever was left to make it out.

With everything going on, he barely registered Manaka's request, unfortunately he only had so many and couldn't afford to waist any more.

(Things were starting to die down with the Russian leaving and the Cool Guy sort of doing his own thing. He didn't seem very keen on handing over any of his equipment, which was a little disappointing, really. The animal girl, strangely, cancelled her animal powers and seemed to be trying to sow the seeds of discontent between her and the Cool Guy. What was with people like this? Didn't they know that you can't bother focused people who know what they want? Since she obviously turned off her animal powers, Manako decided to take away all of the flies and replace it with working air-horns for both her and the animals while her actual and real naginata went to swipe at the back of her knees to get the girl off of her feet. A copy of Manako appeared near Vadim, though, to speak.)

Manako: Can we maybe go somewhere and talk away from her and her friends?

Even though the blade aimed at the panther got past Raiya, it didn't cut the panther's tendons. Up on his perch, the panther was sitting down leaving no way to get to the tendons in its rear legs. The tendons in the front legs might have been accessible, but the blade would have to come at it from the front to try, and the cat could have easily swiped it out of the air if it did that. So as it was, the cat got a slash across its hindquarters. Roaring, it turned with the uncanny speed cats have and swiped the thing that had dared injure it out of the air. Holding it down, he used his massive bite force to crush the metal thing.

The four dogs, on the other hand, were not sitting down and so the attack on them succeeded. Sensing their pain, Raiya snarled and flexed her claws. Just before her sight was blocked, the expression in her eyes could clearly be seen to have changed to a killing light. Had her eyes not been covered then, she would have launched herself at Vadim. But not to stop him, to cripple him as he'd crippled her beloved friends.

Before Raiya could return to her normal human form, she heard the faint buzz of blades slicing the air. A grim smile crossed her face. It was time to show this bastard just who he was messing with.

Dropping into a ready stance, she closed her eyes and centered herself. It was for times like this that she constantly practiced, sparring with her cousin every day. Compared to facing attacks of wind that could slice through a lamp post, these flying blades weren't all that bad. Vadim might think that he could set them to counter any counter-attack she might make, but unless he was a martial artist, that wasn't possible. She also had her shield, which could more than handle these things. She positioned one to protect her back and then got to work.

Using as few movements as needed, she proceeded to kick and hand strike the razor blades away, aiming to either send them into the ground or into each other. Empty-hand fighting was her specialty. Because of this, there was an extra layer of armour sewn over her hands and forearms, as well as her shins. Her suit offer fairly good protection against blades, but the extra layer over the areas she used for attacking and blocking protected her from the completely.

As for both Kujo and Manako's attack on the back of Raiya's legs, the shield protected her from them. The naginata might get caught in the crystal, leaving Manako vulnerable to attack from the panther still sitting up above. From his position, he could easily drop silently down on either her or the mechanical dog.
